Their projects encourage individuals, families and schools to grow or raise their own food, learn new skills and prevent food waste. They promote local farmers, producers, shops and outlets that grow and supply local food.

If you are on Facebook, please ‘like’ the New Forest Food Challenge, and find out what is happening across the forest with regard local food. They promote food local courses for example beekeeping, apple tree pruning and bread making, they advertise local foodie events, share recipes and keep you updated with any local food offers.

The Pop Up Junk Food Café

The Pop Up Junk Food Café

Junk Food CafeWith climate change high on the world’s agenda this event takes a look at the role that food waste plays in contributing to emissions. BNF partner the New Forest Food Challenge in collaboration with NFDC’s recycling team will be focusing on what food gets thrown away and why, plus coming up with some innovative ideas for using leftovers and ‘out of date’ items rather than binning them. We’ll be cooking up some tasty dishes using food that would normally be taken off the supermarket shelves or out of the kitchen cupboard and junked! It’s a free event just turn up on the night!

7pm – 9pm Wednesday 30 March at the South Lawn Hotel , Lymington Road, Milford on Sea SO41 0RF. Part of Milford on Sea Food Week.
